The data that this tool uses varies in accuracy globally. We can not guarantee the accuracy of the contours that this tool produces, ground truthing is recommended. In general smaller the contour interval will likely have lower the accuracy.

This DIY Land Mapping Tool was developed for the DIY Land Design program in collaboration with Verge Permaculture, Coen Farm and Danilo da Rosa.

DIY Land Mapping Tool

STEP 1: Select desired area on map

Use the square icon tool to the right to choose an area that you wish to map. You can use the pencil and box tool to edit the area or move the mapped area around. If you would like to delete the area choose the trash can icon to start over.

STEP 2: Generate contour map

Choose the unit of measure [meters, feet] that you wish to map with. Then choose a contour intreval appropriate for the property you are mapping. We recommend starting with a 1m - 2m [3ft - 6ft] contour interval.

STEP 4: Download file to Google Earth Pro ™
Download the KML file, open up Google Earth Pro ™ and then open the KML file.
